History buffs can also visit Drake’s Peak, where Sir Francis Drake once sat to spy on the Spanish fleet, as well as Mountain Top, the highest point on the island used as a strategic communications location during WWII.
Paradise Point Tramway - Voted “Best Tourist Attraction 2007” by the Virgin Islands Daily News Readers Poll, Paradise Point Tramway is a “must do” attraction. From the harbor in Charlotte Amalie, you’ll travel to one of the highest points on the island via a ski lift-style cable car to enjoy the sites of the port and its surrounding areas.

Virgin Island Ecotours - A 2 ½ hour kayak excursion through the St. Thomas Marine Sanctuary and Mangrove Lagoon. Naturalists educate guests on local flora and fauna as well as the islands’ ecological concerns. Eco-tourists on this trip can also go snorkeling, sans fins, in the lagoon area.

The island has gained a reputation as the shopping capital of the Caribbean, with U.S. residents enjoying $1200 in duty-free shopping per trip. Charlotte Amalie offers the best shopping on the island with large warehouses converted to shops featuring choice items at great prices. Look for perfume, cameras, liquor, jewelry, leather goods, imported clothing, and local island crafts.
